Agbeyewa: “We Are Building More Than a Farm” – Niyi John Olajide

– Ipao-Ekiti State, Nigeria

The Chairman of Cavista Holdings and Agbeyewa Farms, Mr. Niyi John Olajide, has reiterated that Agbeyewa is being developed as more than a farming operation, describing it instead as an emerging agricultural hub with ambitions for large-scale, sustainable production.

John Olajide made the remarks during a recent visit to the farm, where he inspected ongoing operations, assessed newly acquired tractors and farm implements, and called for greater productivity and more effective utilisation of machinery as Agbeyewa intensifies efforts to build a modern, large-scale agricultural enterprise.

“What we are building here is bigger than just farming cassava. We are building an agricultural business that must be productive, efficient and sustainable,” he said. “The investments we are making in machinery and infrastructure are deliberate, and we expect to see them translate into better productivity and stronger results.”

The visit gave the Chairman a firsthand assessment of Agbeyewa’s operations and the progress being made in translating the company’s agricultural ambitions into measurable field-level execution.

The Chairman was received by the Managing Director/CEO of Agbeyewa Farms, Mr. Seyi Oska Aiyeleso, alongside the Director of Community Engagement, Alhaji Dauda Lawal; the Senior Manager People Mr. Vincent Olajide; and other members of the management team. He toured field activities and inspected the brand new 110-horsepower tractors recently acquired from Zoomline.

The new tractors equipment marks a significant step in Agbeyewa’s ongoing investment in mechanisation, as the farm seeks to improve operational efficiency and expand its cultivation capacity.

“These tractors are not just equipment. They are investments in our ability to do things faster and cover more hectares. We need to make sure they are properly utilised and maintained,” He noted.

“Everyone working here has a role to play. Agriculture is not easy, but if we remain committed, disciplined and focused on the work, we will achieve what we have set out to achieve,” he said.

Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Seyi Oska Aiyeleso, appreciated the chairman for his continued investment in Agbeyewa Farms.

“We appreciate the Chairman’s continued support and commitment to Agbeyewa. The new tractors and implements will significantly strengthen our field operations and improve our capacity as we continue to expand our cultivation activities,” Aiyeleso said.

While acknowledging the complexities involved in operating at scale, the MD/CEO expressed confidence in the systems and capacity being developed at the farm.

“There are challenges that come with large-scale farming, but we are building the systems, capacity and workforce required to manage those challenges and deliver on our targets,” he said.
